Permanent Exterior Lighting Installation in Rotterdam, NY
We mount app-controlled LED lighting along your roofline so you can change colors and scenes from your phone, all year. Before we suggest a layout, we look closely at your fascia, gutters and outlets and tell you plainly what we found.
What you get with a permanent install
Here is how it works. A strip of LED lights sits inside a slim channel that we fasten under the edge of your roof. During the day the channel blends in with your trim, and once the sun goes down you choose the look from your phone: crisp white for everyday curb appeal, a warm glow for a backyard get-together, or bold color for a holiday.
It suits people who are done hauling out ladders each fall, who want the home exterior lit through every season, or who simply like pulling into a driveway that feels welcoming. It is a poor fit when the board it would fasten to is soft or separating, and catching that is the whole point of our first visit.
So that visit is about looking, not selling. We check what the lights will be attached to, then share what we saw, photos included, before we offer any recommendation.

What the installation includes
- 01
Roofline and trim inspection
We check fascia boards, drip edge, gutters and soffits for rot, loose fasteners or damage. If something needs attention first, we tell you and show you.
- 02
A layout planned for your house
We map which rooflines, peaks and garage edges get lights and where runs start and end. You see the plan before anything goes up.
- 03
Color-matched mounting track
The track is chosen to match your trim so it disappears in daylight. It mounts tight under the roof edge, out of the path of sliding snow.
- 04
Power and controller setup
We place the power supply and controller near a suitable outdoor-rated or protected outlet and route wiring neatly along the trim, not across siding.
- 05
App setup and a walkthrough
Before we leave, we connect the app on your phone, set a few scenes and schedules, and show you how to make your own.
- 06
Cleanup
We pick up packaging, clips and trimmings from your lawn, beds and driveway.
Questions about Permanent Lighting?
Call(518) 665-3531When a permanent install is worth a look
Holiday setup has become a chore
Climbing up every fall and back down every winter gets old, and it feels riskier each year. Lights that stay up mean that climb happens once.
Strands droop off broken clips
Inexpensive clips turn brittle in freezing weather, and strings sag after a winter or two. A fixed channel keeps every bulb in a clean, level line.
The front of the house disappears at night
Dark steps and unlit corners make it hard for guests to find the door. Gentle white light along the eaves fixes that and lifts curb appeal every evening.
You want lights past December
Game-day colors, a birthday, the Fourth of July or plain everyday white all come from the same lights with a couple of taps.
New trim or gutters are on the calendar
If fascia or gutters are being replaced soon, that is a good time to plan lighting, so the channel goes onto fresh, solid material.
How a lighting job runs
- 1
Your phone call
Tell us about your house and the look you are after, and we will pick a day to stop by. There is no charge for the quote.
- 2
The inspection visit
We walk each roofline you want lit, look at the trim and gutters up close, and locate your power options. Afterward you hear our findings in everyday language, with photos of anything that worries us.
- 3
A written plan in your hands
Your quote spells out the footage, how many runs there are and any prep work needed, along with a layout drawing. If anything changes, we talk it over with you before it is added.
- 4
Installation day
Our crew places ladders with care, keeps plantings protected, fastens the channel and routes the wiring. Plenty of single-family homes wrap up in one day, though height and the number of rooflines can stretch that.
- 5
First lights on
Where we can, we test every section once it is dark, set up the app with you and stick around until you feel at ease running it.
What moves the price
No two houses are alike, so we build the price from what we measure and find on the inspection visit. The written quote breaks it into parts, so each line makes sense to you. These are the factors that matter most.
- How many feet get lit
- Length matters more than anything else. A front-only run comes in well below lighting every side of the house.
- Height and roof shape
- Second-story eaves, steep pitches and several peaks or dormers call for more time, more equipment and slower, careful work.
- Separate runs and power points
- A detached garage or a back roofline may need its own power supply or extra wiring to reach it.
- Condition of the trim
- Soft fascia or a loose gutter needs attention before any lights are fastened. We flag it at the inspection, so you know about it up front instead of partway through the job.
Common questions before an install
Will the track be noticeable in daylight?
Barely. It is matched to your trim color and tucked up under the roof edge. Most people passing by only realize it is there once the lights switch on.
How do the lights hold up in our winters?
They are made for outdoor use through cold, snow and freezing rain. Mounting them under the roof edge lets snow and ice slide past instead of snagging. On the inspection we also watch for spots where ice tends to build up and plan the layout around them.
Will the installation damage my roof or gutters?
We do not drive fasteners through shingles. The channel attaches to the fascia or trim board, which is why we check that board first. If it is not sound, you hear about it before anything is mounted.
How do I control the lights?
With an app on your phone. You can switch them on and off, choose colors and patterns, and set schedules so they turn on at dusk without you touching anything. We set it up together before we leave.
Do I need to be home on installation day?
Being there at the beginning and the end is best. We go over the layout with you in the morning and show you the app once everything is lit. The work in between is all outside.
What if I only want lights on part of the house?
Plenty of people do exactly that. A common start is the front roofline and garage, with other sides added later. We plan that first run so expanding it later is straightforward.

Start with an honest look at your trim
We will come out, check what your lights would mount to and walk you through what we found, then hand you a written plan. We work in Rotterdam, Schenectady, Guilderland and the towns around them.
